Väärnin Pappila

Väärni Vicarage of Lapinlahti was completed in 1843. The owners, writer Minna Kettunen and her husband, musician Jarkka Rissanen, bought the old rectory, which was already in poor condition, in the hope of saving it. Aftera massive restoration, Väärni’s vicarage was reopened in 2008 as a tourist attraction. It is also home for Kettunen-Rissanen family.
The building is a valuable conservationsite, and it has been reopened in detail. For example, the current wallpapers have been painted by hand, imitating the oldest layers from the mid-19th century, which were found during the renovation.
How to get there: From Kuopio and Tahko 50 min, Iisalmi 25 min by car.
